It's not a heavyweight and for my use it's fine. I am using this as a decorative curtain hanging in front of a sliding door shower stall that is very functional but has ugly textured plastic door panels and an ugly shiny gold frame. By the time we get ambitious enough to spend and trade the $$, we've hung the tension rod and hung this cute curtain. Since we have small birds and feed hundreds more outside, this seemed fitting! If you used it as a working shower curtain then you will need a liner. Very cute in real life but not childish.
