The only disadvantage is that the star-shaped part of the jug cannot be replaced due to its wear and tear. At some point, after repeated washing in the dishwasher, the attachment point of the star part on the bottom breaks and the entire jug has to be replaced. This doesn't work well with frozen juice unless it's been thawed, but it's great for mixing up soda pop or anything else that's thawed. It's also great for keeping ice in the jug while pouring. I liked them so much I bought more when they wore out.
