I got this as a gift about two years ago and have used it every day with my morning routine of coffee and oatmeal - always with bananas unless I forget to buy more . I don't know why, but I never get bored of bananas in oatmeal. Other fruits get bored in less than a week, even mangoes. I washed the slicer every day and shook it dry, but was unaware that if I left it upright on the dish rack, water would drip onto the source. I think two years of good service is enough, so I just ordered another one. Doing some more thinking about it the day of arrival I realized that there was probably some sort of guarantee, which was confirmed by a simple internet search. After a fun email exchange with the manufacturer, I'm now on my way to a replacement. Even if the springs rust again, I'll live another four years! But I think it's better to dry the one bought from Revain and the replacement stays new - either it becomes a gift or it is kept as a spare. While the first one was fairly new to me, I bought lunch at a gourmet food truck meetup where one truck appeared to be "Waffle Amore," specializing in waffles. After ordering the Banana Foster Waffle, I watched them use the same tool. Hers was covered in banana chunks because they only had to wash it a few times a day, but they loved it too and we had hilarious laughs at the banana cutting tool.
