Review on LG 32UL500-W Display - FreeSync Compatible 31.5" 4K UHD, Wall Mountable, 32UL500W, HD by John Mathes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If, like me, you're switching from a 22-inch 1080p monitor, this is a HUGE improvement.

I bought this monitor mainly for productivity and also for some console gaming. On a 22-inch 1080p monitor, this thing looks massive and incredibly sharp. I would recommend using a scaling of 125%, which I think is a good balance between having more space and showing text at a reasonable size. The monitor definitely needs some calibration to look good. I used the following settings from a review on rtings.com: Picture Mode Custom Brightness 99nits Brightness Settings 18 Contrast Settings 68 RGB Control 45-60-48 Gamma Settings Gamma 2 These settings should get you at least close to ideal and you can fine-tune from there. If you're using a Macbook Air, make sure you have a direct USB-C to Displayport cable, as most USB hubs don't support 4k at 60Hz. good in games where a frequency of 60Hz is acceptable. I would recommend this monitor for productivity. Text looks incredibly clear and there's plenty of room for multitasking with 2-4 windows on the same screen, which is amazing to me. I haven't had any issues with dead pixels or anything like that so I'll update my review if I run into any issues. This monitor cost just under $300 and was a great upgrade for me.
