I've waited a long time to write a review for this glass jug, I wanted to make sure of my opinion. It works really well for me and seems pretty solid. I've only used it to store pre-boiled water, I haven't tried heating water on the stove in a jug. It keeps the water hot for a long time and looks beautiful. I don't like the metal lid, it ruins the look of the jug a bit, but the glass lid is probably easy to break and metal lids work great. I wish I had a choice of handle colors when ordering, amber is not as pretty in our kitchen as I would like. I would prefer the clear handle option or maybe dark green or blue. You may be wondering why I boil water in another pot and pour it into this glass pitcher. I just prefer to go with a smaller jug that isn't as heavy and doesn't tie up my other pot for other uses. I keep my glass pitcher filled with boiled water to drink at will. Update after 4.5 months of daily use: I hit the bottom of the jug onto the top of the glass and punched a hole in the jug. Luckily there was very little cold water left in the pitcher and it didn't break, only a few shards of glass from the pitcher were broken.
