I bought this specifically to use in the living room above the cable box after we upgraded to the new FIOS boxes that no longer have a time/channel display. So much for improved drawers!) Either way, this wide-eyed clock is PERFECT as a large display on our entertainment center, as you really can't see the analog wall clock when you dim/turn off the lights to watch TV. So this type is a great addition to any interior. I really can't say much about the dimmed display since I don't use it; A bright display might be too big for a bedroom clock. I LOVE the unit!
