I've read of people having problems with resonance at certain speeds but due to the low cost I thought it might be worth a try. I hooked one up and ran it without a mount - nice and pretty throughout the speed range. So I installed it and turned it on. There was a slight hum at the higher end of the range - quieter than the fan I was replacing (aka 747), but I knew it would bother me. So I removed the screws one by one to see if it was frame distortion, but it wasn't. After I separated the fan housing from my case with the screws still partially tightened, the noise is gone. So I took a pack (size 007) of 5/32" IDx1/16" nitrile o-rings from my inventory and installed them. between the PC case and the fan housing. A nice silence followed. It would be nice if Artic included the $.04 isolating parts in the kit, but you can buy them from Revain for $6 or get the entire kit for $8-10 and maybe fix a future o-ring problem .
