My beloved cat Peas got so hot and overheated in this carrier that she went insane trying to squeeze through the bag about halfway through the flight. I grabbed my bag, carried it to the back of the plane and asked the flight attendant for help. Thank goodness the last row of seats was empty and I was allowed and able to open the stroller and direct air into the stroller through the vent at the top and also stick her head out to cool her so she could breathe. She felt comfortable and fell asleep within 10 minutes as soon as I did this for her. I was able to stay in the seat with her for the rest of the flight with the trunk fully open and keep blowing air. This story has a happy ending, but I'm scared for other pets who might be in this situation. It was only a 2 hour 20 minute flight. The carrier is sturdy but I find that the mesh is woven too tightly preventing adequate airflow to keep your pet cool and allow adequate airflow to breathe.
