A little background: My car: 2008 Honda Civic EX with premium sound without navigation. My goal: replace the head unit and amplifier behind the shifter. Verdict: ehhh I would buy another brand or part from Honda. later you will see why--------------------------------------------- -------- ------------------------------ ------------ -------- ------------------------------ --Let's start with the good. The color match was exact for me. I held the OEM panel next to this one and they looked almost exactly the same (the original has faded a bit from the last decade's sun). I bought the gray version if you're interested. ), two side mounts (black), single and double sized linings (black, NON-SHINY), a single sized pocket (black) and some screws for a single sized pocket. - ------------------------------------------------ - -- -------------------------------------------------Now the problems I encountered when installing the Pioneer 80 PRS (Single - Din) noticed. Firstly, the plastic screw cylinder screw holes are extremely thinner than the OEM plate! I split the first one with very light pressure as the hardware used in the OEM is what I believe to be a #8 1/2" screw. I didn't have enough screws in my spare baskets so a quick trip to the only Walmart store saved me Store that opened at 7:30pm I bought a set of #8 and #6 1/2" bolts to compare so I don't have to go back again. (They're about 97 cents each, so less than $3 total.) The #6 1/2" screws worked great, and I've had no more problems with plastic cracking. However if you have a problem my advice is to take some super glue or craze glue and tighten the screw a bit until the crack opens up. Then apply some glue to it and into the crack while slowly unscrewing the screw. Leave it and be as good as new. Like. Another problem. When I was about to install the shield for my radio, I found that the plastic clips that came with it got in the way, so I had to install without the shield. It works, but I'm not very happy with it, so I'm going to order passenger and driver side mounts from Honda ($30 each) to fix this problem. *Note: If you plan to keep the included plastic brackets, widen the holes that bolt to the metal frame beneath the radio body, or simply use a smaller bolt instead. That was the worst part of this kit for me. My Pioneer has a gloss finish and a gloss finish. However, I have to use the decorative pieces that came with it, otherwise I have gaps and the top half is glossy and the bottom half is matte. Finally, the most frustrating problem I had was installing my AC control board. It worked fine at first until I checked it in the car! Luckily I didn't use the clamps as I was just testing a few things. It turned out that the rear window demist and air recirculation buttons were stuck after being pressed. You can sand down the hole they go in, but that would require painting the scratched surfaces, which I didn't want to do. I've tried various methods of tightening two screws more than the other but all failed as the knobs that rotate for the AC fan and temperature controller snap into place and the temperature controller pulls the entire control board more towards the panel and who would get buttons stuck again. If this happens to you, my advice is to get some washers large enough to use the end of the screwdriver to lightly hammer on the opposite side where you will be driving the screws. My solution was 1 washer at the top (closest to the radio housing) and 2 washers at the bottom (closest to the bottom of the panel when you view it while sitting on the dash). This made all buttons work as usual. but left me with a very difficult turn of the temperature control. Glad I don't use it that often! * The AC fan knob worked well too, didn't seem to have any pressure issues like a temp knob. * Conclusion: is this a good dashboard kit? Depends on what you are looking for. If you want something that will be great but requires more effort? Then yes, it will work. However, I recommend another brand or even buying the part from Honda. Other parts you will need to purchase extra: #6 1/2" screws (about 15 will do, so if you lose one don't frantically look for one!) washers (will try to get the size I have used and will upload pics when I take it apart to upgrade to better mounts) Honda passenger/driver mounts for a more solid installation Drill or screw 2x smaller to attach the two lower mounts to the metal under the dash. LOTS OF TIME I am still rating this product a 3 because in the end it works, not perfect but it works I have attached the following photos;(as of 10/12/17)/ OEM cylinder and Scosche cylinder/ Passenger and Driver's side plastic brackets with radio and bag installed/Comparison of #6 and #8 screws/Results/Increasing gap between radio and trim pieces.
