I bought this DeLonghi oil heater for three reasons. 1) I prefer a radiator heater to a heater that blows hot air. The oil filled units heat up consistently, don't dry out as much and I don't constantly dust my furniture as the constant blast of air is very similar to a whole house hot air system which luckily I don't! Heating the baseboard is much better for even heat and no dust, especially if she's sensitive to it. NOT a fan of constant dust 2) It's getting colder soon and the stove needs repairs. If the part doesn't arrive soon, I'd like to stay warm to be on the safe side. Turns out we're still waiting for that part! 3) A few years ago I had another brand for a small upstairs room that I used as a studio in the old farmhouse I lived in and this oil heater kept the heat to the last. I was there two winters. It wasn't a DeLonghi which explains why I spent a little more for quality, the old one had a tiny oil leak so it should have sat on an old sheet of plywood with newspaper underneath for the last few months I've used it. Spending more I expect this pad to last many years longer than my old one. Very happy with this heater, works very well. I researched which brands got the highest rating and this one was right there. Very happy (and warm) with the purchase.
