At first I thought I had a bad pump because there was no suction. The instruction manual is not in English (not helpful at all) and without the video on the details page I would have no idea how to put this all together. After several attempts to turn each part on and off, I was able to get the pump to work. The black hose that comes with the pump is not good. Mine popped out a few times and water splashed everywhere. I have a small tank so I can drain without a hose and just dump the water into a bucket using the shower head. For larger tanks you will need a different hose. suction power is good; However, I have found that the sand scrubber often gets clogged and you have to stop running water through it to clear it - again I have a small tank and the starting and stopping to clear clogs was once or twice per cleaning . If you have a big tank I can see this is really frustrating. The product is solid and with some improvements - hire a company to develop a more detailed English manual with frequently asked questions, English troubleshooting tips and a tightly screwed drain pipe.
