I have been using Dogtra e-collars for 5 years. They have been recommended by several trainers for my Malinois/Malinois mix. While the collars were effective, they had a number of issues that required them to be sent back to the manufacturer for repair under warranty. I had to return at least two collars because they didn't work upon delivery and I had to send two more after they stopped working (or stopped working altogether) within the first year. requires the highest level (127) on the Dogtra e collar when she becomes so over-excited that nothing else can distract her attention. At the highest level, she squeaked. She has a very high threshold. I bought this collar for her as no training has sufficiently reduced her barking when it comes to deliveries and due to Covid there are many more of them in the area. Out of the box I tested this collar according to the instructions and it did not vibrate. I tried several times before the collar responded. I left it in vibrate mode, put it on the dog and waited. she barked. And barked. And barked. I checked it, there is no vibration. I changed it to the lowest shock setting (1). she barked. and SCREAM. I have only ever heard her make this noise when she was in sharp and fairly severe pain. It was terrible. Then she flinched and looked scared. This is a dog that has tested the Dogtra e-collar at level 127. I can only imagine what the highest setting does on this thing. No way. Protect your dog and yourself from injury. Find another brand. These collars clearly fail quality control and pose a serious hazard to your dog and possibly you too. Not worth the risk and certainly not worth the high price.
