Review on Phanteks Digital RGB Strip Combo PH NELEDKT_CMBO by Aaron Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mixed situation but overall great lighting

Pros: Absolutely beautiful lighting effects. I personally hate the harsh, round "bulb" lighting you get from many RGB strips. Where you can see single hotspots/less lit/hotspots of most RGB LEDs. These are very smooth light transitions. They're solidly built, have good ports, and give you more or less depending on how you want to move them. They need a completely flat surface for them to hold properly. And if it's one of the 90 degree connectors, there's a good chance it won't stick well even if it's 100% flat. The connectors are handy, but I had to buy Gorilla double-sided tape. A kind of sticky gel pen. Hang them up with a connector taped to the underside of anything, just plan it won't hold even with the best gorilla tape. They're well made and solid, but they don't have much flex. If you make a 90 degree angle and make another one within 4 inches, it probably won't hold up well. Make sure you think about what you will be using them for before you buy them to put in your suitcase. They will only bend in a certain way. If you look directly at the bright part, hold it in your hand. It will tilt left or right. Neither forward nor backward. This means you can surround the motherboard with one of these. But you can't run it along the side of the motherboard and then along the top of the PSU shroud. No problem: make sure you find out how many LED numbers your motherboard or controller handles. For me ASRock was 100, so 2x1 meter LED strips are not chained properly. I had to run all 3 strips I have as separate strips for them to work. This is a mobo/controller issue, not Phanteks fault.

Pros
  • Includes 2 x 400mm strips, extension cords and digital to RGB motherboard adapter
Cons
  • Overall ok but...
