They work great and are said to be very durable. They are installed without a screw and you can install the screw later. Lifer saver for my needs. ProsEasyStrongBacker installs without a screw. minuses. You'll need a little more room behind the mounting surface than folded in half if that's important to you. I needed to attach a 2x4 to a hardboard with no access to the back of the hardboard. The liquid nails didn't work as they just ripped off the surface of the hardboard. They fit easily into the fiberboard so I was able to attach the screw later. I couldn't drill a 1/2" hole in the 2x4 to pass through the metal part of the brace, otherwise the bolt head would have nothing to hold and the 1/2 hole would be too sloppy and lose shear strength. This allowed me to install the pad and then drill a small hole for the screws. I just had to make sure my holes were drilled just right.
