Easy to see how to assemble but hard if you have weak hands. I don’t have the branches completely flush. It hurt my hands. I don’t know anything about a timer function. This is just a plastic tree. Seems sturdy enough but I have hung anything to know for sure… I still like the way it looks though if you’re not right close to it
