I used this on an Acer that didn't have a Vesa thread. I was able to completely remove the stand from the monitor. The last metal assembly on the bottom of my monitor just snapped into the monitor's plastic housing and would not tighten. Also, the holes holding the base screws were closer together than the holes on the adapter and didn't line up. This was the only adapter I could find for my monitor, so I used a round metal file to remove just enough metal to allow the screws to line up. There's also a long screw assembly that applies pressure to the monitor from the side of the adapter to keep the entire assembly in a stable position. My monitor had a bulge where the padding should have been, so I added a metal bracket to elevate it a little higher. I think it also helped increase stability. It took a little extra engineering, but since that was all I could find, it worked.
