Review on Litter Genie Plus Pail: The Ultimate Cat Litter Disposal System - Locks Away Odors, Includes Refill - Black, Small by Andy Cornelison

Cheaply made, poor design, poop hole too small, arrived damaged - Filling the bag costs more than the device itself

This product looks much better on the picture. When I received mine in the mail, the top half was slightly bent. It didn't close or didn't close properly (actually never). The silver handle is a bolt that you pull out and is spring-loaded to close when you let go. Shovel side bucket not included. Instead, it has grooves on the side where the two halves meet. That means it's not at all safe to open (and I myself don't like it when a cat poop scoop accidentally lands on my socks, feet, shoes, person, floor, etc. because the bucket fell off for the same reasons as everyone else ). I haven't had a chance to test the pouches and how they work, although if I remember correctly the page says something about tying them at the bottom (sounds like a bad place? I don't want cat poo falling off the bottom looks like an overfilled garbage bag lol). In any case, it might work well for some, but not for me. The part that snaps it in the middle is just a plastic tab that you press. It seemed to me that it was something that, when working properly, would wear out over time and might not have held it closed very well. So I would never take that thing for the top half! This can end up in a big mess. For the price it seemed pretty cool (and judging by the picture) but: TL; DR - Cheaply Made - Cheap plastic and it definitely doesn't feel durable or well built. Was definitely made for this price range - Arrived damaged - Bent and the top didn't close tightly or at all with the bottom The top half or you might spill the bag or other awkward stuff. - Small opening of the container at the top - I bought a multi-layer hand-sifted cat crate and there is no way I can sink it in it. I would have to use the scoop that came with it, which defeats the purpose of my new cat box. Avoid the hassle and buy another product. I suspect this entire line of Litter Genies from this company is probably similar to these, but others might be better, but I won't be buying another one, so honestly I don't know. For now, I'm sticking with my large, sturdy bucket filled with former cat litter. :-)

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Not trendy
