Review on πŸ”Š Immersive 5.1 Surround Sound System: VIZIO Sound Bar for TV with Wireless Subwoofer and Bluetooth by Jessica Frederick

Revainrating 5 out of 5

First impressions are updated.

The soundbar and rear speakers really pack a punch. They were very easy to install and come with every cable, which I think is every possible audio input option a person could really want (optical, HDMI-Arc, Aux, RCA, etc.). The bass is very good (can be too loud). You may need to change your settings, which I highly recommend playing around with. This is best done with the vizio Smartcast app. My settings toggle between EQ modes for music and movies, which I like: 8. Surround volume 12 (this really gets your rear speakers kicking in for almost any type of content). Surround balance 2 (raise the right speaker slightly due to the seating position, but leave it at 0 for the center seat, -1 for the left rear speaker and on). Subwoofers 3-5. Truvolume is on (just normalizes the volume of all content I think so the ads aren't louder than the program you're watching). As for the stand, I think the Atlantic PN77305018 is the best you can find for Vizio speakers. Someone mentioned them here and they are great. They're large enough to easily accommodate rear speaker cables, so there's no need to wrap or dangle them. I stowed the subwoofer fairly well hidden behind my back, but I could definitely hear where the very long cables to the rear speakers are tucked away, as well as where the extra cable is secured with the included zip ties. It's a fairly clean setup with very little visible wiring and it didn't take long. I have yet to try true 5.1 surround sound as I have an old TV but I have a new 4k TV. on the road so I'm definitely going to, but it makes what I consider stereo sound incredibly immersive and very surround sound in and of itself. All in all, this is a massive improvement over any TV speaker. EDIT: A few days later it's still working great. I also figured out how to pair my Direct TV remote (model RC66X) to the soundbar so I can do at least basic volume control and mute. You put the Direct TV remote in TV mode with the top slider, then hold down the select and mute buttons at the same time, type 11758 while using the Vizio remote or app, press the learning volume + / volume - / mute Buttons to have the soundbar look for another remote and match it with the correct matching buttons on the Direct TV remote. I also reset my Direct TV remote first so that instead of changing the volume on the TV and the Vizio soundbar at the same time, I only control the receiver and the Vizio soundbar. All the problems I'm having are related to the app. To be honest, this is very inconsistent and slow, requiring a connection-only restart on a regular basis as the connection is randomly lost. Sometimes the setup (I've reinstalled the soundbar many times to fix issues) can be done very easily, while sometimes it takes 2-3 tries and all the above issues are due to using the SB Controls app which can make them incompatible. since I use remote controls and a soundbar setup app. I don't think it's worth deducting a star because I bought the soundbar and not the app and the soundbar is still great.
