UPDATE: I couldn't put the lever back on the stylus, but I managed to snap the stylus back in place to wear it. It's super cute and comfy. I still don't know how to get the needle out when I'm ready to wash it or change ribbons. But I will cross this bridge when I reach it. Just be very careful when attaching the strap to the attachment! I didn't even put it on before the pin lever broke off rendering it unusable.
