Review on πŸ” Mann Filter C 3698/3-2 Air Filter Element: Double Pack for Enhanced Performance! by Dan Cramer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product and price

About $15 at local auto parts is $30 for two types of cool ones. The extra $5 doesn't matter if your motor only needs one, but it's worth ordering Revain in that case. Mine were made in Germany and the Germans always make good stuff. Either people seem to be messing around with their filters unnecessarily, which allows dirt to get into the engine and force it through the new porous filter. New filters work worse when filtering. People don't realize it, or worse, use K&N gauze for unnecessary "flow". For goodness sake just change your filters in time, usually after 3 or 4 years to hit the 50,000 mark. Under no circumstances should the airbox be opened more often than every 2 years. If using two MB M112 or M113 filters with the air box on top of the engine, ENSURE it is back on the MAF housing/intake at the rear of the engine. You might even want to take the MAF off (because it's been damaged by carb cleaner), remove it by hand and spray some gumout or some great CRC-GDI cleaner on the running engine. I put a whole big can of disgusting acetone gumout in my 140k M112. It went better. Have someone hold back the throttle a bit and spray at a moderate 3000-4000 rpm. Again, that's a lot for TWO German filters. Do not change up to 30,000-50,000, there is a large capacity between them and they are not limited at all. The only way to improve the filters is to wrap them in pantyhose to trap coarse sand and shit without them getting into the folds. Good advice if you see sandy conditions. Now I wish I could do that with mine, I'm at the beach. There was a lot of sand in the old filters.
