Received this for the first time last week and was quite surprised at how it was packaged. It was literally the same box it came in as you would find on a shelf at Walmart, just with an address label and a little bit of tape at the top and bottom. The problem is that there was absolutely no gasket in this box. When it arrived with a large dent on the side I was a bit skeptical. It turns out I was right. There was a fairly decent chunk of chipping off the top of the jug and a crack almost reaching the bottom, making it anything but watertight. Immediately annoying. So I immediately set about returning it to get another one. I'm grateful that Amazon makes these returns almost insanely stupid. What I didn't expect was that they would send a replacement before I took the broken one back to the UPS store to ship. It was very comfortable and I really appreciated it. A replacement comes with the pitcher. Exactly the same packaging EXCEPT there is no tape at the bottom and top making it even LESS secure and secure than before. Luckily this time there was nothing wrong with it being delivered rather limp and undamaged (and the way it was shipped says something, even if the shipping process was very thorough). Operation is very simple. Remove the plastic, rinse with water, wash the container before use, then refill. You can either remove the lid or it has a handy built-in lid for easy filling. I really like that there is a date reminder at the top so you know when you started using it so you know better when to order a new filter. That's handy, and considering how cheap this filter jug is, that says a lot. So how does water taste? I'm happy to report that it tastes great. I consider myself a water snob. I think water that tastes "goodβ to many people is terrible. I don't know if I have a demanding palette or if I'm just too picky, but I know what good water tastes like and I won't drink it unless I drink it. think it tastes clean (or at least my personal definition). Where I work the tap water is just awful and I don't mess with it everyone agrees. I live in an area where tap water usually tastes pretty decent, but something about ours really sucks. I have a solution now and will be using it for a long time and ordering new filters when the time is right. Given how much water I drink, this will likely happen sooner rather than later. To be honest, packaging issues are the only issues I have with this one. Either Amazon needs to put it in a better box to ship it safely, or Soopyk needs to develop a different package to ensure it ships safely. I'm sure they don't want to replace defective items very often and the way I received them (twice) will surely make this a permanent issue if nothing changes. Only my .02.
