I had a Kuwan heater that blew out after a few years so I replaced it with another one. Using the same mug on the new Kuwan warmer didn't work. Maybe the design was changed and the heating pad wasn't generating enough heat in the center of the plate. Tried 2 other brands; the same problem on 1, and the other would not turn on at all. So I tried this one warmer. That's incredible. Has 5 temperature modes. I start at 5 with my 12 oz. cup and dial it down as I drink. The safety feature turns the warmer off when you remove the mug from the plate and turns it back on when you put the mug back on the plate. This might be a bit definitive. The heater must be on a level surface. this. no deformed surfaces and the cup should be in the center of the heating pad. otherwise, the temperature setting will flash, which means the heater is still off. That's why I gave 4 stars. Once you find the sweet spot, it's flawless. I would definitely buy it again.
