Review on ๐Ÿ”’ 1lb Duct Sealing Compound by Rectorseal 81880 by Clinton Youmans

Ideal for attaching a transponder to a kayak body

Updated 4-26-19. The transponder is still there. The putty is still nice, sticky and pliable. After installation, I enjoyed almost flawless sonar performance. I can actually trust the depth rating and fish hit. Much nicer than trying to lug the transponder with me. The best part was that there was no need to build a water trap, as some people show how they do with both silicone molds and this type of drain caulking compound. I think a bit of petroleum iron applied to the face of the transponder was all I needed to get a good seal. Air bubbles cause problems but I haven't had any problems so I'm very happy with it. Another year of fishing! First review: I used half of this block to attach my FishTrax Hawkeye transponder to the inside of my seat kayak. Put a little oil gel on the bottom of the transponder, push it in and slowly work the sides up to the top edge of the transponder and tilt it down towards your body. Seems to work great! Much easier than other chassis mounting options. I'm keeping the yak up for the winter, so in the spring we'll see how well the compound withstood gravity and low temperatures. I will update next year if I remember.
