Works great with Shimano XT M8000 1x11 Medium Cage

I used a Shimano XT M8000 1x11 rig (derailleur/front ring/derailleur) with a Sunrace 11-46T cassette. Switching to an 11-50t cassette seemed like the perfect and very inexpensive alternative to upgrading everything from the derailleur to the chainring to the front derailleur to 1x12 with the new Microspline freehub to fit the 10-50 tooth. I could live with the 11T as the smallest cog. The conversion literally took 15 minutes. Disappeared 11-46 and went 11-50. Not sure why they say an extension cord is needed. For my M8000 GS middle cage, all I had to do was turn screw B a few turns for it to shift to 50T. I also ordered an extended B screw from Wolftooth just in case, but I ended up not needing it. The original B screw had more than enough room as there are still a few threads left. No further adjustments were required apart from a few turns on the screw. Switching is quite comfortable. I took it to the Rocky River Trail near Charlotte, NC, which has some of the most excruciating leg climbs. For the first time I didn't have to get off and walk on any of them! I liked it very much! I currently run 30T up front which gives me a pretty good gear with a 30/50 combo. I also have a 32T front ring that I might try. Hold onto the Shimano Microspline! I don't need 10Ts in the back and it saved me a ton of money.

Pros
  • ๐ŸคŸ - According to the cost of a DIY bike, most bikes you bought from another brand have 7, 8, 9, 10 gears so you replace/upgrade to 11 can speeds per pack. Also find brakes, rotors or bleed kits for your bikes, find pedals, a star on the shop page. We strive to create affordable bike parts to improve your performance and experience.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
