These pieces are very strong. Others say the screws are difficult to install, but it's not difficult if you use a wrench on one end and a socket wrench on the other. Although the studs protrude up toward the drum, I found that the bottom edge of the drum is far enough off the ground that it holds the bottom of the drum over the studs and doesn't touch them. My guess is that most steel kegs are probably very similar, although the plastic kegs may be different.
