Yealink T46S - great sound, lots of features yet easy to use

Bought these phones to use with VirtualPBX, best price here at Revain. Programming was very easy as the provider automatically provides a link. After initialization, the carrier configuration locked the phone, preventing some basic settings such as We had an issue with the power light blinking after turning off the phone. to hibernation, which was cured by a simple modification of the "local" configuration file. Adding these settings to the local config stopped the annoying flashing: features.power_saving.power_led_flash.on_time=0features.power_saving.power_led_flash.off_time=100 To add the settings I asked the ISP to "unlock" the phone. Saved "local" to the computer via the phone web interface, added the above function lines, then reloaded the "local" configuration - problem solved. Many custom settings are available through the phone web interface which needs to be activated in administration This is really a flexible phone well suited to add custom call billing and shared directory features including web server based directories and LDAP directories Phones, What ever. But our internet connection is great, sometimes it's pretty good, business class. No matter what we tried, phone calls b Goods disappointed and low quality. Since we switched to these phones and a hosted PBX the call quality has been fantastic. Clear, quiet, solid. Good duplex without that lag and headache when two people talk to each other. Phone controls are simple, it just works. While the receiver isn't the dated/classic "grip" type that fits perfectly on the shoulder, it's definitely not bad. Many phones, especially cordless phones, have a handset that cannot be shouldered - not this one. Speakerphone and microphone work great. no screams I used a simple 48V POE injector and transformer (WS-POE-8-ENC, purchased from Revain a while back) to easily power my indoor Cat6 wiring. I made some Yealink 5V adapters just in case because they have a different connector than many other 5V connectors (bigger). Considering the cost of 5v adapters and unnecessary extra cables, it would be cleaner and about the same price to use a POE injector under a table than to use a 5v adapter if no power-over-ethernet -Wiring can be added indoors. POE seems confusing at first - 48 volts versus 5 volts, but modern POE devices take what they need and regulate power from a 48 volt source - no problem. In this case the phone gets 5 VDC from the POE. If this phone starts to run into problems in less than three years, I'll definitely update this review. Our old Panasonic phones and switches lasted twenty years and still work. This phone is a worthy price and a worthy replacement for the old system. From what I've read elsewhere the support may not be that great, so these phones are definitely 'on trial' for some time, the rating may change down. "S” means the phone supports "Skype”. Skype didn't try. The phone will work the same as the "G” or regular model once set up. Starting with five stars due to the price, ease of use, flexibility and excellent call quality with no interference.
