This is absurd. I wanted to replace the dome light in my 2001 Chevy Silverado because the bulb has a habit of melting light and isn't bright enough either. At night there was almost nothing to see in the truck. It's an extended cab with only one rear-facing headlight. To get good brightness I need crazy light. And that's it. This bulb is so bright it startles my dog when it lights up. It even causes some glare in the fixture, although the improved light output makes it worth it. Cannot cause glare in your instrument, I believe it will vary from car to car. For my application (there's only one dome light), the light output isn't over the top, but if you're planning on replacing multiple dome lights in a large SUV, you might want to go for something a little less bright. in good shape. I like that the LEDs are under the contacts and the circuit board can be pushed against the top of the lamp contacts to stabilize the lamp and prevent it from rocking back and forth under strong vibrations. Worthless. I had to compress the lamp contacts to get a tight fit, but I didn't even need pliers to do it (just finger strength). They can easily be taken apart to accommodate a conventional incandescent bulb, but given that incandescent bulb melted my fixture I doubt I'll ever go back. I love these lamps and will buy more in the future if needed. Hope they last, I'll update my review if I have any durability issues.
