Review on Renogy Solar 50W Eclipse Lightweight Suitcase: Portable Power Solution with 10A Controller & Panel-10A PWM by Antonio Gonzalez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good solar panel

Renogy 50W portable solar panel really works. It puts out 55 watts or more under ideal conditions, but only when facing directly into the midday sun, in moderate temperatures, and at altitudes over 4,000 feet. Add in some cloudiness, air pollution, or aiming from a different angle and the result falls off very quickly. It will easily power my small camping cooler (50W), but I have to tie it to a camp chair and adjust the hover about once an hour. Being plastic rather than glass it can attract dust which needs to be wiped down very carefully and it's not really a 'suitcase' as advertised, just a fold down panel with a latch. The included charge controller seems to work pretty well and gives you sufficient information. It doesn't come with different connectors so you may need to wire the connector to match your system like I did with the SAE connector.

Pros
  • Solar and wind power
Cons
  • Secret
