A few days ago I received a kitchen scale to replace the Salter, which lasted about 14 years. My old scale weighed 1 gram and did a good job. I've tried a few other scales that don't weigh 1g but only 2g and the rest 5g. I wanted at least one that could do what my old scale could do. Well, to my surprise, the Etekcity scale works even better. As you can see from the pictures, not only does it weigh exactly 1g, it also weighs 0.1g, but there's a catch. It measures better in 0.1g increments if you have something that already weighs 1g. On one of the pictures it shows 299.9 (299g plus 0.9g) and on the next one after I added some yeast it shows 300.2 (300g plus 0.3g). I made a poolish for May Craft Bread and I only needed a pinch of yeast (I usually put less than 1g in it) so it was perfect. I can definitely recommend this scale. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because, as you can see in the picture, the two buttons aren't fully "sealed" like on my trusty old scale. So if you throw flour in, for example, some of it will end up in the "cracks" that you brush. But in my experience, some always get stuck there. So I solved the problem by sticking cling film on that spot. You can still use the buttons as usual, but delete any ingredients that may be on them. I would advise the manufacturer to pay attention to this problem. Then it would be 5 stars for me.
