Review on πŸ”Œ 1800 Watts Voltage Protector for Refrigerator: Optimized for Brownout and Surge Protection by Ronnie Polk

4 minute cycle instead of 3 and it gets too hot.

I've only been using it for two days. On the first day everything seemed to be working fine. First off, this isn't a 3 minute cycle, it's a 4 minute cycle. It says so on the back of the device. The problem started on the 2nd day. All the LEDs in the house started flashing when the appliance was plugged in, but the freezer was NOT working. As soon as the freezer was turned on, the flickering stopped. This is usually caused by a bad resistance in the circuit. I've tried to reproduce the problem several times and each time when this unit was plugged into the wall and the freezer was NOT working, the lights in the house would flicker. Plugging the freezer into an outlet without a guard did not cause flickering. Even 10-15 minutes after turning it on, when the protector is unplugged, the entire middle section is quite warm. I would be concerned if you install this unit behind a fridge or freezer where you don't have a direct line of sight to the exit as it heats up so quickly. In principle this is a good idea, but given the risk of electrical fires it would be safer to spend more money on another solution.

Pros

Cons
  • Vulgarity
