I don't currently need a ring gauge but I bought this set for a hammer and metal mandrel. I have a cheap silver ring that I have worn for over 17 years. Over the years, it rarely left my finger and became extremely deformed, taking on an oval shape. With this set it was very easy to fix. I slid the ring down the mandrel, tapped the ring around the circumference of the ring with a hammer several times, kept moving the ring until it wrapped around the mandrel, then took the ring out, flipped it over and did the same process. It now has the perfect "O" shape and is more comfortable to wear.
