Review on Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker, Black and Silver by Jessica Dubois

A bit disappointing despite the many functions

Overall I have to say that I am disappointed with this coffee maker, although this is more of a criticism of the carafe, which I can only describe as a very large drop. a cup. My old Capresso had an excellent decanter and never got me to remove the coffee drips after pouring a cup of coffee, as this Cuisinart invariably does. And it didn't force me to turn the carafe completely upside down to pour the rest of the coffee into the cup. The lid of the Cuisinart carafe is made of cheap plastic and, unlike the Capresso, makes one wonder how soon it will need to be replaced. If the Capresso had temperature control, I wouldn't look for an alternative after over a decade of heavy use, plus regular cleaning and filter changes that eventually made it unwilling to push more than 4 cups of water through the bottom with the push of a button. The Cuisinart temperature control works well, although the "Reg" is actually a little warm, the "Hot" isn't as hot as I'd like, and the "X-Hot" leaves an odd taste of burnt plastic in the coffee. I tried leaving the hot water in the jug for a while before brewing, as Cuisinart suggests, but found that this resulted in negligible temperature difference and wasn't worth the delay in brewing the first cup of coffee. I will say that Cuisinart makes a very consistent cup of coffee - I never have to ask why today is hotter or colder, stronger or weaker than yesterday. Stainless steel is attractive, but the matte finish isn't easy to keep in good condition. Capresso also wins this competition. Overall, I wouldn't give the Capresso 5 stars when new, but for me it deserves at least one full star more than the Cuisinart. And for my taste, coffee was brewed a little better in Capresso.
