Just bought as my son plays with older players in his baseball league. The children hit harder and throw faster. Luckily he hasn't gotten anything in his chest yet. Really check if it helps or not. But I think even a little extra protection is better than nothing. Use the size chart as it will tell you the correct order size. My son's only complaint was that he was itchy because of the seams on the inside where there was foam so I had him wear it inside out and that solved that problem. He wears a jersey and that doesn't stop him from playing.
