Beats The One I McGyverred Together

Once upon a time I wanted to light up a cigarette on a windy day. I took a car light with two filaments, one blown filament (glass removed), a 6 cell battery holder, some wire and a push button switch and made a prototype lighter. If it worked, I'd ask a mechanic friend of mine to take another bulb and poke a hole through the glass as a "safety" measure. I could actually light my cigarettes. It lasted a few minutes (or seemed like a few minutes in the middle of a nicotine attack) and my test killed 2 sets of 6 D cells and probably worked 8 times before the filament broke. Looking back, I'm appalled. Smoking? Soldering wires and breaking glass without glasses? Dispose of batteries in household waste? I'm happy to report that while I won't start smoking again to test this feature, this device does actually light candles and will likely work as such. In fact, it works better than a flame-based lighter for some applications. With this type of candle with a burning flame, for example, you don't have to reach into the glass, which is worth it. When I first saw the list, I was worried about safety. I would still recommend keeping it away from children unless they are old enough to use a regular lighter and candles, but you really should try to hurt yourself or use it as a weapon. Except maybe a Bond villain. A small disadvantage is that it takes a few seconds. A birthday cake with some candles? It is better to have a patient crowd. In this case, it would probably be better to have a "master" candle and light the others with it. The almost microscopic imprint on the instructions (printed on the back of the box) and the snug charging cable are the only negatives I can find. In other words, insignificant and not worthy of being called a star. My stupid teenage self is jealous.
