Only rated a 4 because it doesn't work in football boots. We even took him to the store to try and find boots to work with. The plastic portion of the archwire is sliding forward and landing in the wrong portion of my daughter's archwire, which the doctor says could aggravate her injuries. I think if you have the right type of shoe to fit it in it will be great ankle support. The bow is good but unfortunately they didn't fit my daughter. The company was great in getting my money back and accepting the return. We were just disappointed that we couldn't find a shoe that would go with it.
