WALL PLATE DESIGN FAILURE: TOO SMALL AND DIFFICULT TO REMOVE

replacing standard outlets that came to my house. I installed one and it worked fine, but the wall plate is too small and incredibly difficult to put on and take off. I've installed Lutron dimmers using the same clip-on wall plate to hide the screws and it's light weight and slightly larger. I don't see any cracks in the drywall. I am also not satisfied with the shape of this MICMI wall plate. Not so modern.
