I wanted to use this as a gasket between the combustion exhaust fan and my oven wall. I cut it to size and made a triple coat, put it on the bolts sticking out the side of the firebox and then installed a new exhaust fan and tightened the nuts. It worked well. It is not "giving" or "forgiving" material. It can break absolutely too easily. But for me it worked as needed and thus perfect for the job.
