You don't have to worry about losing it when changing batteries on the water, and the base mount is a threaded metal insert that allows you to firmly attach the mount without worrying about stripping the threads. good as any budget rigid device and it has the same customization options. I simply used a 1/4"-20 stainless steel screw to attach mine to the spring clamp and clamped it to the cross member in front of me on my float tube. I removed the float from the transducer and just hung the sensor in the water on the Side of float tube. Worked great. Lower structure of my favorite spots. It's too early here to hope for a bass catch but I took my line to retrieve a wool beetle while scouting - and maybe thinking of some of the trout Farms of years past can hit him. Of course - I got hooked from a large stock to 10ft, and with this sonar I was able to stay at that depth and catch my limit. In fact, at some point several fish appeared below me, and a few moments later, as my fly passed through this place, BAM!- I gout the greatest day... What started out as a journey of exploration turned into one of those days you're on an an addictive gel trip, and that didn't work I would if I couldn't stay 10ft with this sonar.
