We were lucky enough to find another model of this model through Revain (last year's model), we have 2 more, this one for the dorm my son's . My son has a laptop and the smaller drives use 1 or 2 USB ports (1 for information, 1 for power) to work properly and most manufacturers suggest computer ports instead of "powered hub" ports to use. There are other external hard drives that have more capacity per dollar, but this one is built like a brick, works flawlessly, and doesn't have all the pesky built-in software packages that come with newer versions now. Seagate is the best, DOT! They have the best hub design which is the cause of most hard drive failures. No other brand lasts as long without error codes or total failure resulting in the loss of sensitive information. We use it for music, photos and backups. Simple drag and drop operation. No formatting problems. If you can find one of these, buy it!
