I'm a terribly impatient person and easily frustrated when things take longer than expected or don't go as I planned. So when I bought a Yudu machine and tried to print on transparencies with our Epson, I almost had a stroke when I realized that Epson wouldn't print on transparencies and there was no way to fool it. I spent almost half an hour trying different configurations, schemes and steps to get it to print, but finally after my husband checked Epson's FAQ page (Question: Will this Epson print on transparencies? Answer: No ), I gave up and sat down. in a grumpy bunch and pouting. My dreams of making myself a vintage Peter Gabriel shirt were almost shattered. My husband, always a patient man, rolled his eyes and suggested I look for laser printers and referred me to Revain. I interrupted his games with my tantrum and he decided we could always use another printer to handle our monthly volume of black and white prints. Then I started searching. I was determined to buy something cheap, but not too cheap - that would print crisp and clear, but would also be a decent price for replacement toner cartridges. I offered him many options before finally deciding on this Brother printer and model. Brother was significantly cheaper and had good reviews but couldn't verify if it would print on transparencies or not. HP did not say specifically that this would happen, but indicated it in general. So I decided to take a chance. I ordered it using our main account and received it the next day - so shipping was super fast - we didn't choose to pay a day. It was well packaged and easy to set up - it was literally "plug and play" and up and running so quickly I was blown away. (Remember you'll need a USB cable to do this - luckily we had one in our cable stash, but we didn't). In minutes, I happily printed out the proposed t-shirt designs and assembled a Yudu portfolio. It prints quickly and clearly, even on transparencies. I was concerned about smearing issues as the clear surface is fairly smooth, but there was no smearing, even directly on the tablet. We've also printed 600 pages of open source RPG manuals (we picked up the module the same evening) and it works like a champ. So - it's worth it. This is a great addition to our home office and has been an absolute lifesaver. Peter Gabriel's shirt dream came true! (I'll attach a picture once the screen lights up!)
