Review on πŸ–²οΈ Holmes White HWF75PDQ-U Wick Humidifier Filter by Charles Lardieri

Just as bad as Off-Brands

I've been using Off-Brands for the last few years and ran into a problem. Every time the filter/wick dries out a bit, it deteriorates. It releases a substance that makes it rock hard and will NOT absorb any more water no matter what you do. So if the humidity in your home gets high and you need to turn off your humidifier, even for a short time. or when the humidifier runs out of water at night and the filter/wick dries out. then it is DESTROYED! Once it dries out, it releases a substance that makes it rock hard and never absorbs water properly again (that's its ONLY job) and needs to be replaced. This substance is NOT until it dries, meaning it is intentionally made that way. They are designed not to make you buy new ones. FYI we use well water with pre/sump filter and water softener. So it's not the water that's causing the problem. We don't have such problems with water. Nothing else in our home water leaves this "stuff" on anything and makes it hard when it dries. Otherwise the laundry would be rock hard after washing.
