AFTER purchase the seller emailed me clearly stating that the plates and bowls are NOT microwave safe. This information should be in the specs, but it isn't. (If you read all the questions and answers I haven't read, find the seller's explanation. I went back and found it after getting an email.) I received the bowls today and they look ok - would have been four or five stars but the problem with the microwave. There are too many good alternatives in this price range (or cheaper) to sacrifice microwave performance.
