I like the machine and it works well. You must have good overhead lighting to get good results. I don't see anything in the instructions about the metal bar. It needs to be pushed up (and it's possible because it's spring-loaded) so that your nose rests against the nose of the device. The instructions say nothing about this metal stick. Should it be at a distance from the forehead? Will it affect the measurement? You can't position your nose correctly without pushing it to the side, so you have to ignore the gap between the nose on the device? I can see where to hold it still and it sees your pupils better with good overhead lighting. It states that the infinity setting is used for accurate measurements, so why change that setting at all? The manual is very lack of proper instructions for this device. The alignment guides seem to have enough resistance (stiffness to hold their place) to hold them in place once the correct spacing is achieved, but I wonder if they won't loosen over time. The digital display is very nice and the auto on/off works well, but it's a little fiddly to turn on if you move it around a lot. Instead I would prefer on/off. The battery pad is not the best design, poorly protected, wide open to the board. Battery access is good. Personally I would have preferred some rubber on the sides and some on the top and bottom for a more comfortable grip when measuring someone's pupils. It's not a huge factor, but for the price I expected that. If the metal bar is to be pressed against the forehead, it should be flat with a rubber pad on the part abutting the head to provide a safer and more comfortable reading position. Thin round metal resting on the forehead is not the best or most comfortable design. Because of these issues, both accuracy and usability are lost. The price-performance ratio is right. In my opinion, paying more than 100.00 for nothing is very cool. I don't think it's worth doing what it is. Based on my pre-purchase rating of the Revain, I genuinely believe it's the best device available.
