Doubtful but effective

I saw this about a year ago, took a closer look and showed it to a colleague (also a close friend). Who actually had one (different brand/model) and loved it! So, after about a year of research and his consistently positive feedback, another baby is on the way (more premium soap and lots of underwear). Decided to return it. My examples aren't pretty, but I think they show how it works. We have an 18 month old son who decided one night that his size 4 nappies did not fit him. And pissed on two sheets and pajamas all night. We then left town and forgot to wash them (I know phew!) but it happened and during the 4 hour drive he developed diarrhea which seeped through his diaper before we could stop and change him. So this sets the stage for our main test. We're home now and first we tasted our towels which we were about to replace because no matter what setting we tried we couldn't quite get rid of the musty smell. We are loyal Tide users so I think a higher quality detergent should clean towels. But they never smell right. And will only be really fresh for a day or so. Ready to buy new ones, we tested the color safety when we loaded the towels for the first time and everything was fine. The towels came out and smelled great! Wife used them tonight and couldn't be happier (even skipped Downy to really try it in college). Then we turned our attention to the wonderful examples our Son set for us. One download later. Nothing smells, no stains can be seen, that would be a fault with this product in my opinion. And it wasn't, impressed now. I will update more if we try. I have 30 days to prove or disprove its effectiveness or I'm stuck, so I'll make sure it lasts. real. - The plug is poorly thought out - our laundry room has recessed electrical plugs and I had to grab a surge protector to plug it in. (Big box with pins attached directly.) - The device feels a bit cheap, no less than I expected. But for $400 it would be nice and I'd provide more initial reassurance once everything seems more solid.- **You can smell "ozone" when the unit is running and it really made me cough when I did it bubbles and admired the blue light. We have a front-loading LG Direct Drive. Denser in operation than a top loader. FYI in case you're concerned - the EPA doesn't color ozone in the air very favorably. Keeps clean, especially around children while the device is running. ======= UPDATE ======= Installed this in about 2 weeks, still as much fun as day one. Removed a few spots of dried strawberries from a light polo. I'm not sure if regular water would have done as well, but after washing there wasn't even a hint of a stain left. Our towels smell fresher longer than before, clothes don't show any odors and look/feel clean. I saw someone mark my review as unhelpful, curious what's missing, I'd be happy to provide details. Thanks very much!
