I got this to replace a much smaller meat thermometer shaped like a pencil. This new digital thermometer feels good in my hand and its large display is much easier to read than my previous thermometer. I've mainly used it for meat that I cook in the deep fryer - I need to check the temperature often and this thermometer makes things a lot easier. The shape of the thermometer makes it easy to check different cuts of meat without bringing your hand near the hot edge of the fryer.
