I bought these webcams as a cheap and practical alternative to the normal built in laptop webcam. A typical laptop device has a tiny webcam built into the top of the laptop screen. This can only indicate a laptop user. Suitable for many applications, but NOT in all circumstances when the camera subject is elsewhere. That was exactly my situation. So, these gooseneck webcams allow the camera to be aimed at the intended object instead of just being fixed on the laptop user. This allows the user to do whatever they want with their laptop but assign the USB camera to a video conferencing program (e.g. Zoom). This is particularly useful in meetings where the user can videoconference an entire group or room while still using a laptop to control the meeting. Cameras are fine for this purpose (1080p will do) and are fairly cheap for the job. I'm only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because there are better and sharper things out there (chunkier and more expensive) but they do the job for a low price.
