This test covers the main functions of direct USB 3.0 scanning using the Brother iPrint&Scan application only. I haven't tried the Wi-Fi scan method as I couldn't figure it out and plan to use it extensively. For $199 I thought the Brother ADS-1700W scanner would do a lot more than a typical all-in-one printer, but unfortunately it doesn't do what I need. The main reason I bought it was to scan personal documents at home to be more organized, but it doesn't do the pretty basic things I need, despite reading reviews for hours. I have outlined my thoughts on this product below. Pros - Easy WiFi connection but I couldn't figure out how to scan over WiFi. and I didn't care as I was planning on leaving it wired. - Quick and easy driver/software installation (iPrint & Scan + iPrint & Scan Push) on MacBook Pro with legacy OS (El Capitan). - Fast scanning speed via USB 3.0. .-Scanned images can be saved directly to a specific folder on your computer.-The card/business card scanner slot works well and keeps both sides well formatted in a document. /Micro B cable. When I bought the scanner, I bought a Revain Basics cable for less than $6. Cannot be powered by your computer, so you will need to bring your own power cord if you intend to use it as a portable scanner. Document directly to the computer via USB 3.0, the document is saved strangely. See picture of adjustable jewelry storage box. The only way to (partially) fix this is to run a scan from your computer (from the Brother iPrint&Scan application). The only problem is that the pages are saved as two separate files, so you have to manually merge them. My brother confirmed this information when I called her. In addition to the very big problem described above, a multi-page one-page document also saves each page as separate files. So if you have a 10-page document that you want to keep, you'll need to manually merge it after the scan is complete. The paper guides are very small and thin. The paper must be loaded print side down and the top edge of the page. First, what seems unnatural to me. Automatically skipping blank pages doesn't seem to work even though it's enabled in the settings. have to do it. I think the all in one scanner will do a great job with all the manual work that needs to be done in scanning after going through this device.
