I bought a large size and it fits me perfectly. Size XL would be too loose. The cuffs aren't ribbed like most hoodies, so I needed a hem. The material is elastic. Haven't washed it yet so can't comment on shrinkage. If they wear like this I think I'll get rid of some of my old sweatpants and wear them in the fall and spring before the shorts are needed.
