My daughter had these as a toddler and they were very thick and warm and soft on the inside. Thicker than any pants she actually had. I wanted to get them again and ordered a size up (she's a size 8 but wears a size 10) but they are very small and have minimal stretch due to the thickness so I had to send them back. If your child is thinner, that's fine. The only complaint is that the lap cats are wearing out
