I had concerns about this device when I bought it - a number of reviews reported a significant delay between detecting motion and turning on the light. But that's not a problem if you have Smartthings Hub. How I use this detector: We have a hallway leading from the master bedroom in our house where it gets very dark at night and we wanted to turn on the light as soon as we leave the bedroom. We also wanted the light to stay on for 7 minutes and then go off again. No problem! It was MUCH easier than I expected. I installed this using the Smart Lights app in Smartthings in about 30 seconds. It is set to turn on the assigned light when motion is detected, but only between 11pm and 7am, then turn off after 7 minutes. I know a lot of people have had trouble doing this with other tools, but this was very easy and works great. to say that this is not a problem with Smartthings Hub. The light turns on almost immediately when motion is detected (the detector will flash green when motion is detected). There's no 3-5 second lag like others have reported (at least not with Smartthings Hub). My only complaint concerns the pairing process, which is poorly described in the setup guide that came with the device. If you are a Smartthings user, you must initiate the Add Item process BEFORE removing the tape from the battery. It took me three tries to figure it out. It might be worth giving that one star, but the device works great and it's a 5 star product apart from the error in the documentation. And hello! This is a Z-Wave Plus, so strengthens and expands my Z-Wave network around the house. No more bumping into objects or stepping on toys in the dark. love this product!
